Transportation

Crowne Plaza Athens - where the conference will probably be hosted - is located at the centre of the city in Mihalakopoulou Avenue.

 

The hotel is easily accessible by foot from the Megaro Moussikis Metro stations (5 min's walk). There is a direct Metro line (blue line) going from Athens airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" to the station of Megaro Moussikis.

 

By car if you are coming  from the airport, follow the main airport highway (Attiki Odos) until you reach the exit for Messogion Avenue. Turn left on Messogion towards the city centre and continue until Feidippidou Street, then turn left and continue for one block to reach Mihalakopoulou Street. Drive 2km down Mihalakopoulou and the Crowne Plaza will appear on your left on the opposite side of the street.

 

Also you can get a taxi from Athens airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" to reach the specific location. Airport to Crowne Plaza taxi charge is approximately €38, for details please see Athens Airport Taxi. Alternatively you can use Beat  and Uber taxi services.

Travel Tips

​

The Acropolis is the one historical site of Athens you can't miss.​ Is located at the historical centre of the city easy accessible by foot from the Metro station at Monastiraki (green and blue line - 16 min walk) or Thissio station (green line - 18 min walk). There are direct Metro lines blue and green, going from Athens airport "Eleftherios Venizelos" to the stations of Syntagma and Monastiraki (blue line) and from Piraeus to the station of Monastiraki and Thissio (green line).

Acropolis' History Museum is located in the historical area of Makriyianni, southeast of the Rock of the Acropolis, on Dionysiou Areopagitou Street, Athens. It is only 300 metres from the Acropolis and approximately two kilometres from Syntagma Square, the main square of the city of Athens. The museum is easily accessible by foot from the Metro stations of Acropoli (blue line - 4 min's walk) and Syntagma (blue line - 13 min's walk).

Things to do in Athens etc

​

The following is a list of the most famous stadiums in Athens:

  • The Panathenaic Stadium or Kallimarmaro is a multi-purpose stadium in Athens. One of the main historic attractions of Athens it is the only stadium in the world built entirely of Marble. It is located in the central Athens district of Pagrati to the east of the National Gardens and the Zappeion Exhibition Hall.

  • The Georgios Karaiskakis Stadium is a footbal stadium in the Neo Faliro area of Piraeus, near Athens. It is home ground of the Greek club Olympiakos F.C.

  • The Peace and Friendship Stadium, commonly known by its acronym SEF is a multi-purpose indoor arena that is located in Piraeus. The arena is mostly known for being the home to Euroleague team Olympiacos.

  • The Olympic Stadium of Athens "Spyros Louis" is a sports stadium in Athens. It is a part of the Athens Olympic Sports Complex and hosts one of the biggest sport clubs in Greece, AEK Athens. Also the arena is known for being the home to Euroleague team Panathinaikos.
